Ptr. Mario A. Tomboc and his wife were called by the Lord in February 1992 to start a missionary work here in Dagupan City as a pastor and his wife as an elementary teacher. In June of 1992, they started a tutorial school for pre-school with only FIVE students. The following year they were able to rent a two-building property, which needed a major renovation because of an accidental fire incident almost a year before renting it. With the construction of the renovated building, they designed it to be a school and a church building as well. They had secured the necessary building permit to able to conduct church services on Wednesday night and Sunday services and at the same time for school purposes from Monday to Friday mornings only. With a place to conduct the pre-school activities in that same year, they were able to secure a permit from the office in Mandaluyong to open up an extension of the mission school under their supervision the LITTLE LIGHTS LEARNING CENTER Schools located at 447 Barangka Drive, Mandaluyong Metro Manila. With their desire to expand and improve the school and make it available to the public, they asked permission from the main office in Manila that they would be working for the separate government permit of the school. With that development, the church- International Baptist Church, agreed upon to secure a SEC registration for the school in the name of LIVING LIGHTS LEARNING CENTER in preparation for the DECS registration and application for government permit. It was in 1994 when the school completed and submitted the requirements for a government permit. In 1995, DECS Region 1 at San Fernando, La Union issued the school a government permit. Immediately with the permission of the church members of International Baptist Church after a board meeting, they put up funds to improve our facilities to comply with the requirements for government recognition. By the grace of God, the Lord had allowed the school to be granted government recognition for its pre-elementary course for the school year 1996-1997. GOVERNMENT RECOGNITION (R-I) NO. PE- 025 S. 2011 In the Year 2002, as amended, Living Lights Learning Center was changed into LIVING LIGHTS ACADEMY FOUNDATION, INC.
With Ptr. Mario’s knowledge of sign language during his seminary years at International Baptist College, he was a missionary to the deaf. So in addition to the regular school, they opened up a tutorial school or non-graded school for the hearing impaired in June of 1996 with two deaf students learning the basic of sign language. With these developments, the church again had decided through the school board and with the suggestion of the parents of the pre-school students to open up an elementary school in May 1998. Through the years of hard work and by God’s Amazing Grace, the school was granted recognition of its elementary course (Grades 1-6) in November 14, 2014. GOVERNMENT RECOGNITION (R-I) NO. E-027, S. 2014 Year 2000, they also opened a branch at Poblacion Norte, Sta. Barbara Pangasinan. It was named Living Lights Learning Center. It also started small but God had blessed it and is now also recognized by the government.
Year 2006, The Living Lights Academy Foundation applied for government permit to operate High School (First Year Level) to its graduating Grade 6 pupils as the main base for enrollees for its program. With a significant pupils who are hearing impaired, the school opted to put up special classes to cater to our SPED pupils using sign language as means of communications. The school board is continuously planning for the expansion and improvements of our school facilities. To this, we are generating funds locally and from friends abroad to help us finance the needed improvements of the school and meet the expectation of the public and the government concerning the requirements and the operation of the said school. Time and time again, we have been experiencing God’s faithfulness and goodness. As we all face this new normal, the school have decided to do online classes and will continue its best to provide quality and holistic education for our students.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
